Course on Setting up Population Based Cancer Registries for Afghanistan participants, CCE, Navi Mumbai, India 28th August – 02nd September 2017.
A 6 days cancer registration workshop was organised by IARC Regional Hub for Cancer Regsitration Mumbai, Centre for Cancer Epidemiology on 28th August -02nd September 2017. The workshop largely discussed on the need of cancer registries, its emergence in LMICs, challenges in establishing PBCR and CanReg5 software. Topics such as Need of Cancer Registry, information collected by cancer registries were discussed.
The participants were provided hands on training on coding primary site and tumor morphology using ICD-O-3, case abstractions & CanReg5 software. The faculty at the workshop focused extensively on giving practical training to participants on calculation of crude incidence rate and age adjusted rate. The importance of data quality indicators and some quality exercises were imparted.
