Cancer Registration Workshop, Sri Lanka, 28th – 29th March 2017.

A two-day cancer registration workshop was organised jointly by IARC Regional Hub for Cancer Regsitration Mumbai, WHO Country office, Sri Lanka, Ministry of Health, Sri Lanka and IARC/WHO, Lyon France on 28th -29th March 2017. The workshop largely discussed on the need of cancer registries and its emergence in LMICs. Topics such as history of cancer registration, information collected by cancer registries were discussed.


The participants were provided hands on training on coding primary site and tumor morphology using ICD-O-3. The faculty at the workshop focussed extensively on giving practical training to participants on calculation of crude incidence rate. The importance of data quality indicators and some quality exercises were imparted on 2nd day.
