The Unit for Strengthening Cause of Death (USCOD) undertakes research to improve the quality, accuracy and completeness of cause-of-death information and strengthen mortality data systems in India.

Assessment of certification quality, common errors, healthcare professionals' knowledge and practices, and the impact of MCCD training.

Evaluation of different training approaches and nationwide initiatives to improve MCCD skills among healthcare professionals.

Research on ICD-10 mortality coding, automated coding systems, and challenges associated with the transition from ICD-10 to ICD-11.

Exploration of innovative approaches, including verbal autopsy, to improve cause-of-death ascertainment and certification.
